How to Cook Perfect Rice in Pot | 5 easy and simple steps!

It your are a casual rice eater (eat rice only once a week or a few times a month), it might be better option for you to cook rice in a pot rather than buying a rice cooker.

There are a lot of benefits to cooking rice in a pot.

  • There is no need to store the bulky rice cooker!
  • It takes less time (20 minutes) to cook rice in a pot compared to a rice cooker! (excludes steaming time)
  • It is cost effective – you don’t need to buy the extra cooking tools to cook rice in a pot! All you need is your existing pot!

It seems is difficult to cook rice in a pot but it is actually NOT! It is quite easy and I will show you 5 simple steps.

Tips
  • Soak rice for 30 minutes in summer and 60 minutes in winter.
  • Do not open the lid!
  • Steam.
  • Freeze leftover rice.

5 easy steps

Cups of RiceWater
1200 ml
2450 ml
3650 ml
1 cup = 180 ml

Step 1: Wash rice.

Step 2: Soak rice in water for 30 minutes.

Step 3: Add clean water and rice in a pot and put the lid on. Cook on medium-high heat until water boils.

It is better to use the clear lid to see the cooking status.

Step 4: When it comes to a boil, turn the heat to low and cook for 8 minutes. You can check inside but try to keep the lid on as long as possible.

Step 5: Turn off the heat and leave it for 7 minutes with the lid on. (steaming process)

Open the lid and loosen rice and enjoy!

Tips: Freeze leftover rice. Rice will dry out and get stuck to the pot if it is left in the pot after cooking.
